When Brian Lese joined TwelveLabs as Head of Finance in September 2024, he set out to build a lean, high-output finance function to manage operations across the US and Korea.

The problem? While Brian's team had a robust finance stack at its disposal (encompassing Ramp, Sequoia, Bamboo, and Stripe), it was being actively bottlenecked by their accounting system, QuickBooks. Not only did QuickBooks lack native integrations with the rest of TwelveLabs' stack, but it also couldn't facilitate multi-entity reporting, a considerable shortcoming for a company with divisions across the globe.

The lack of interoperability slowed the team considerably. Routine tasks, such as bank reconciliations, would take days, revenue recognition required hours of manual updates, and month-end closes often stretched into weeks.
