Most finance and accounting teams are spending 60, 70, 80 percent of their week on work that doesn't require their judgment - matching transactions, chasing down accruals, building variance tables, formatting close checklists. The strategic work keeps getting pushed.
I founded Campfire with a simple mission: give accounting and finance teams superpowers. And we're already delivering on that promise. For fast-growing teams like Replit, Decagon, and PostHog who used to dread month-end, our AI-native workflows are enabling a 5x faster close.
Ember, our GenAI platform, has already transformed how finance teams work - but our customers are ready for AI that doesn't just respond to questions, it gets ahead of the work entirely, like any other member of their team.
Today we're launching Ember Agents: a suite of AI agents that handles finance and accounting work so your team can focus on what actually requires them.

What do Ember Agents do?

Ember Agents are AI workers that run inside Campfire as the newest members of your team. Some run continuously in the background. Others run on demand when you need them.
Continuous agents handle the work that never stops: matching bank transactions to GL entries, processing AP and AR, flagging anomalies, monitoring for duplicate invoices and miscoded accounts, managing accruals. They work 24/7 without being triggered. Your team sees the output, reviews what needs review, and approves before anything posts.
On-Demand agents handle the work that happens on a schedule: period-over-period flux analysis, close prep, board reporting. You set them up once. They get added to your monthly close checklist and run the same way every period. Consistent, attributed, and ready to export.
Every agent action is logged, sourced to the underlying GL data, and reviewable before it posts. Nothing is a black box. Just like any other member of your team, they work where you work with our Slack and integrations for updates and approvals.

What makes Ember Agents different?

Most AI tools in finance are general-purpose language models pointed at a database. They can answer questions. They can draft text. But they weren't built for accounting.
Campfire built Accounting Intelligence: a foundation model built specifically for accounting and finance tasks. It understands your chart of accounts structure, vendor patterns, and how a clean set of books actually works. It is what powers our Continuous agents — the reason they can match transactions, flag intercompany mismatches, and propose accruals with enough confidence to act, not just suggest.
You also control exactly how much it acts. Built-in confidence thresholds let you set where the line sits between auto-applied and needs review. Move it as your trust in the system grows. The model does not get more autonomy than you give it.

Why now?

Accounting teams are being asked to do more with less. Headcount is harder to justify. The close cycle has to compress. The CFO needs answers faster than the team can pull them.
The answer is not more headcount. It’s not more spreadsheets. It’s not a general-purpose AI that does not understand a debit.
The teams we work with are not trying to replace their accountants. They’re trying to give their accounting team back the hours that have been consumed by work that should not require them. Matching transactions. Building accrual schedules. Running the same flux analysis every month.
When those hours come back, the accounting team becomes something different. Not a cost center catching up on close. A strategic function with time to drive value across the business.

What’s available today?

Ember Agents launches with a full suite of agents across accounts payable, accounts receivable, transaction matching and categorization, transaction and accounting policy monitoring, accruals management, and flux analysis. On-Demand agents integrate directly into your monthly close checklist. Every agent surfaces findings in Slack or email so your team stays informed without having to log in.
We’re known for our product velocity, so expect rapid improvement and more agents will be going live as early as next week.
If you are running accounting on Campfire, Ember Agents are available in beta in your account today - see the help center to learn more.
If you are not yet a customer and want to see it in action, book a demo to see for yourself.
