Automated AI CSV Uploads: How Campfire's AI-Native ERP Cleans Up Your Uploads

CSV uploads are one of those tasks that shouldn't need your attention. Fix a header. Adjust a date. Download the file. Re-upload it. Do it again if something's still off.
As an AI-native ERP, Campfire is built to take steps like this off your plate entirely, not just make them faster.

We want to cut manual work out of Campfire wherever we can. Fixed assets, bills, vendors, anywhere AI can take something off your plate, we're building it. CSV uploads were a good next target.
The problem with CSV uploads
Most CSV errors aren't complicated. A date in the wrong format. A vendor name that doesn't match what's in the system. A column header that's close, but not exact. The fix itself takes seconds. The process around it doesn't.
You get an error message. You open the file in Excel or Google Sheets. You make the fix. You save it. You upload it again. If there's another error, you start over.
What Ember does instead

Now Ember cleans up your CSV for you, right inside Campfire. Upload whatever file you've got, in whatever format it's already in, and Ember normalizes it: fixing formatting, aligning it to the right columns, and flagging anything that needs a decision from you.
You can watch it work in real time. A side panel shows what Ember is doing as it goes: reading the file, inspecting headers, cleaning up formatting, and generating a mapping you can check before anything is applied. If you want more detail, you can expand the code behind any step.
If Ember finds something it can't resolve on its own, like an entity that doesn't exist in your system, it surfaces the issue and gives you a fix to confirm with one click. If something else needs adjusting, you can just tell it, directly in the same window.

Once everything looks right, you apply the cleaned file. No download. No re-upload. It goes in as if you'd uploaded a clean file from the start.
And if your file is already in the right format, none of this changes anything. It goes through the same way it always has.\

Where this is headed
CSV cleanup was the first place we applied this approach, but the same logic works anywhere structured data comes into Campfire: master data, chart of accounts, customers, vendors. The goal is the same either way, making sure what comes in matches what the system expects, without making you do the matching by hand.

Frequently asked questions
What is an AI-native ERP? An AI-native ERP is an accounting and finance platform built from the ground up with AI embedded in core workflows, rather than AI added on as a separate tool. Campfire is an AI-native ERP designed for controllers and finance teams at high-growth companies.
What is Ember AI? Ember AI is Campfire's built-in AI assistant. It handles tasks like cleaning up CSV uploads, normalizing formatting, matching entities, and flagging missing data, directly inside the platform.
Does Ember AI work with any CSV format? Yes. Ember AI accepts CSV files in whatever format you already use and normalizes them to match Campfire's structure. You don't need to reformat the file yourself before uploading.
What happens if Ember AI finds an error it can't fix automatically? Ember AI surfaces the issue, such as an entity that doesn't exist in your system, and gives you a fix to confirm with one click, without leaving the upload screen.
