You can now ask Ember questions directly in Slack.
Mention @AskEmber in a channel and get answers from your Campfire data without leaving the conversation.
Ask questions like:
  • What was our biggest spend category last month?
  • How much cash do we have on hand?
  • How many months of runway do we have?
  • Which vendors drove the increase in software spend?
Ember returns the same analysis available in Campfire, directly in Slack.

Why we built it

Many finance questions start in Slack.
Someone asks about runway, spend, a budget variance, or a vendor increase. The answer exists in Campfire, but getting it often requires opening another application, pulling a report, or asking someone on the finance team to investigate.
AskEmber reduces that overhead by bringing financial analysis into the conversation where the question was asked.

How it works

After connecting Slack, invite @AskEmber to a channel and mention it with a question.
Ember analyzes the underlying financial data and responds directly in the thread.
Responses include the same reasoning and supporting detail available in the Campfire application.

Access controls

AskEmber respects existing Campfire permissions.
Users can only access information they are authorized to see. If a Slack user is not linked to a Campfire account, Ember will not respond to requests for company data.
For initial testing, we recommend using a private Slack channel.

Getting started

  1. Open Ember Settings.
  2. Navigate to Notifications.
  3. Connect Slack.
  4. Invite @AskEmber to a channel.
  5. Start asking questions.

Availability

AskEmber in Slack is available today in beta.
If you're already using Campfire, we'd love your feedback.
